Visiting a displaced community on the outskirts of Valledupar.

Colourful Christmas decorations, strung out across the track, flutter in the breeze.

We are greeted by smiles, laughter, openness and curiosity from the children, and, at times, a shyness from their parents.

Shelters and homes built out of scraps of wood and waste, nestle amongst more solid dwellings.

An overriding memory of the warmth of those smiles…
